The burnt tip orchid reqires old undisturbed alkaline pastures. Its
gestation period underground is legendary. It is small, max height six
inches. A difficult photographic subject, not least because of its affinity for an
accretion of enthusiastic juvenile bovine associates. Accompanied by fragrant,
frog, pramidal, common spotted, early purple and butterfly orchids. And masses
of other plants of interest. Fleewort for example. These orchids were found in
the Vale of Pewsey, North Wiltshire, UK, 1998.
